What is Direct To Garment:
With DTG printing, a printer directly applies the ink onto the t-shirt with inkjet technology. It’s sort of like printing on paper, except on a t-shirt. A special printer prints the ink directly onto the garment in the desired design. DTG uses specialty water-based inks, which are absorbed by the fibers of the garment.
1. Pre-treat any colored garments (White garments are not pre-treated). Pre-treatment is required so that the white ink has something to stick to. Think of pre-treatment has a glue for the white ink. Once the garment is pre-treated, we have to heat press it to dry it off before printing (and also flatten the fibers).
2.Once your garment is pre-treated, it goes onto a high tech DTG machine. The operator will upload the artwork to printing software.
3. A white base is applied - Where you initially get the vinegary smell, until washed.
4.Color is applied.
5. Heat applied to cure.
